Health Freedom Revolution: Taking Independence Over Your Health

Health Revolution Intro

Taking Charge of Your Health: Embrace Your Independence

As we celebrate freedom, let's also consider taking control of our health. It's frustrating to feel stuck with healthcare that doesn’t align with our goals for ourselves and our families. You might feel isolated or ridiculed for your health aspirations, but trust that inner voice guiding you when you hesitate at yet another antibiotic prescription.

Embracing Your Role as Health Leader

We are the leaders of our own healthcare. No one knows our bodies and families like we do. Taking charge means making proactive decisions to reach our desired health level, not just reacting when something goes wrong. This isn’t just about making reactive choices when something goes wrong or relying on directions from a doctor who has no idea how hard you’ve worked to eliminate seed oils from your family’s diet; it’s about proactively setting your family’s personal standard of care so that during doctor visits, you have clear non-negotiables.

Personal Standard of Care in Action

An example I love is birth control. Women often receive it as a blanket solution for menstrual, emotional, even skincare concerns, but this approach can create more problems long-term. By establishing a personal standard of care, you can decide if birth control aligns with your health goals and direct your doctor accordingly.

I used to feel anxious about my son’s pediatric visits for ear infections or pink eye, wanting more than just antibiotics. I wanted prevention methods and treatments that wouldn’t harm his gut flora, making him susceptible to even more immune struggles. By setting a personal standard of care, I now confidently guide his treatment, ensuring our health goals are met.

Educating Yourself and Your Family

Knowledge is powerful in managing your health. Learn about the foods, products, and practices you use and share this knowledge with your family. Engage your kids in learning about their bodies. For example, I explain my son’s fever by saying, “There are bad bugs like Thanos in your body, and your body heats up to kick them out. Sometimes we need the Avengers (probiotics) to help.” This encourages him to be active and understand his health more, as well as making it more enticing to take vitamins.

Seeking Professional Guidance

Seek guidance from professionals like Dr. Gina, naturopathic doctors, or holistic nutritionists. They provide personalized advice and support, equipping you with the knowledge and tools to take charge of your health journey.

Creating a Healthy Home Environment

Your home environment significantly impacts your family’s health. Make healthy choices easy and natural by stocking nutritious foods and creating spaces for relaxation and physical activity. I think of Kourtney Kardashian putting her foot down about having a non-toxic Candyland themed birthday party for her daughter and niece. Her sister Kim argues that because it's a Candyland themed birthday party, no one wants nasty dye-free candy and fruits. But Kourtney stands firm in communicating her boundaries. Be like Kourtney.
